First Team Exit The Trophy

Wanderers reached the 5th round of the FA Trophy for the first time in their history in this year’s competition, but further progress was brought to an end on Saturday afternoon as Aldershot Town edged through to the quarter finals with a 1-0 win. Tyler Cordner, who had scored against Wanderers in the home league fixture earlier this term at Meadowbank, found the net in stoppage time at the end of the first half, ultimately securing The Shots place in the next round despite a late Wanderers rally as Isaac Philpot hit the crossbar and Josh Taylor struck the outside of the post.

Back to league action this Saturday, Wanderers travel to Bromley FC in a 3pm kick off at Hayes Lane. Tickets are now available on Bromley’s website but Wanderers supporters must register an account first to then be able to select the designated ‘Away End’ section for booking.

Tony Craig Joins The Wanderers

With Aaron Kuhl, George Francomb and Jason Prior having all joined Wanderers in the past fortnight, defender Tony Craig became the club’s latest signing on Monday afternoon, joining Wanderers from Crawley Town. Tony will be immediately available for selection for this Saturday’s National League fixture against Bromley, read more about the highly experienced former Millwall, Crystal Palace and Brenford defender here.

First Team Fixture Updates

Also announced on Monday were two fixtures updates for forthcoming National League fixtures:

Notts County vs Dorking Wanderers, Saturday March 11th 2023, 5:20pm

Wanderers remain the only side to have defeated league leaders Notts County so far this season, and the reverse fixture at Meadow Lane has been selected for live broadcast on BT Sport. As a result, the game will now kick off at 5:20pm, with TV coverage expected to begin at 5pm. Revised timings for the Wanderers supporters coach travel will be confirmed shortly.

Gateshead FC vs Dorking Wanderers, Tuesday April 18th 2023, 7:45pm

With the original fixture postponed in mid-January due to a frozen pitch, the re-scheduled game in the North East has now been confirmed for Tuesday April 18th, a 7:45 kick off at the International Stadium. Information regarding Wanderers supporters coach travel will be confirmed in due course.

Ladies Narrowly Defeated In League Cup Quarter Finals

The Wanderers Ladies hosted Fulham FC on Sunday afternoon in a thrilling cup tie played in front of a record number of fans at Meadowbank. The visitors from the division above had established a 0-2 lead through the first half, but Cherelle Khassal’s emphatically struck penalty just before the break and Gemma Shepherd’s close range finish from Cinder Colliver’s free kick just after the restart got Wanderers back on terms. The remainder of the game was closely fought, but with just over ten minutes remaining The Cottagers got back in front, and held out to book their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

This coming Sunday attention switches to the Capital Cup, where the Ladies have also reached the quarter final stage, Richmond & Kew the opposition in a 2pm kick off away at Ham Playing Fields.

B Team Remain Unbeaten In 2023

Ruben Gaspar’s side extended their unbeaten form for this calendar year with a 0-2 win on the road at Selsey FC on Saturday afternoon. An own goal midway through the first half gave Wanderers the lead at the break, with striker Ben Aubrey’s penalty shortly after the interval doubling the lead as Wanderers held out to make it 3 wins and clean sheets in their last 4 games.

Montpellier Villa are next up in the league for the B team this Saturday in a 3pm kick off at Meadowbank.

DWFC Vets Season Under Way

Having got off the mark for the new season with a 3-4 win over Roffey towards the end of 2022, the DWFC Vets followed up the result with another victory at the start of this month, defeating South Park 2-1. Players JT and Milan both scored in the opening day win in Sussex and were both on the scoresheet again for the defeat of South Park last time out.

This Sunday the Vets will be aiming to making it 3 wins from 3 in the league as they travel to Broadbridge Heath in a 2pm kick off at High Wood Hill Sports Club.
