A UEFA B license coach who has worked with a number of Elite academy’s, including currently with West Ham United, Charlie has been a long term supporter and associate of Dorking Wanderers, coaching the football club’s first ever pre-academy U16’s side back in 2016, and working with both the Youth and Elite sections over recent seasons.
Alongside co-manager Colin Bland, Charlie led the Wanderers Elite U16’s JPL side in 23/24, and for the second successive campaign, the team enjoyed cup success, defeating Lambeth Tigers 3-1 in the London County Cup final played in March. Charlie has also been a part of the coaching team with Dorking Wanderers Women during the last season, and has played a key part in helping the club compete and consolidate in their first ever campaign at Tier 5.
With pre-season just around the corner, Charlie is looking forward to his new role getting under way:
“I’m eager to get started on this exciting project helping to develop the next generation at Dorking. Working in the youth section for the past two years, and having a successful year with the 16’s last term, I felt it was an opportunity to step up and continue that development with our younger players.”
“My aim will be to mirror the success of the last three campaigns, and continue to push to get as many players around the first team as possible. I’m looking forward to the challenge!”
Director of Football Jordan Clark adds the following:
“I’m really pleased to have Charlie on board; he’s been a big supporter of the club in various ways over the past several years and in the past 12 months especially. He has progressed as a coach working with elite-level clubs, and player progression and development is at the forefront of his mind. Charlie is the ideal person to take this group of young players forward on the Wanderers pathway, and to continue and build upon our recent achievements and successes.”
Charlie’s back-room team for the 24/25 season will be confirmed in due course, and the Dorking Wanderers B team pre-season schedule will be confirmed later this week.
