Following a two-year spell at Wanderers, Seb has taken the decision to move on to pastures new.
As the club has moved further towards a full-time training model, Seb has found the challenge of being fully committed to The Wanderers increasingly challenging. Whilst balancing a second job alongside training three days a week, Seb has found the task of balancing the two separate professions increasingly demanding, ultimately leading to the winger deciding to move on.
With nearly 70 Wanderers appearances to his name, Seb has been a cornerstone of this recent Wanderers era. The winger quickly endeared himself to the Red & White Army following his move to Dorking from Bracknell in September 2022, scoring on his debut in front of the Meadowbank faithful in a 5-1 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge.
Seb went on to make 26 appearances in our inaugural National League campaign, netting twice more and enjoying a stellar first season at the club. Another highlight of the 29-year-old’s time with us came on the opening day of the 2023/24 campaign, netting in front of a crowd of 11,000+ at Chesterfield.
Following Seb’s departure, manager Marc White stated:
“I’m absolutely gutted to see Seb leave the club, he is truly one of the good guys that has been fully committed to The Wanderers.
When Seb came to the club, he made it very clear that football was his passion, he doesn’t play for money, he plays for love – and he’s always been extraordinarily committed to be in the best shape he can be for the team.
Seb has shared some incredible memories with me, having been with us during the two year foray in the National League, and I’m sure he couldn’t have dreamt of scoring in front of 11,000 at Chesterfield, and playing at Notts County and Wrexham. I for one feel very blessed to have both been able to provide those memories for him, and also share the memories with him.
In a modern era whereby footballers have to keep an eye on their living, Seb was always about loving the game and doing his best to help us progress forward. I’d like all the supporters to acknowledge his full commitment and contribution to the last two-and-a-half years at the club.
Seb will be sorely missed by myself and everyone at the club and I wish him all the best for the future.”
Seb also went on to state his appreciation for Marc, the club and all of the fans which have made his two-year spell :
“Overall, I just want to say a massive thank you to the gaffer, and the fans. I will always remember my excitement when signing for the club two years ago, I never thought my non-league career would peak in step one football. Ultimately, all I wanted to do in my football career was play in some of the stadiums that we did together, so I want to say a massive thank-you to Marc and everyone at the club for enabling me to do that.
Some highlights of mine include scoring and getting two assists on my debut against Dagenham, the game at Woking where my two assists got us to 3-3, scoring the winner against Southend at Meadowbank in front of 4000, and getting the equaliser against Chesterfield in front of 11,000. All of those moments will stick with me forever.
The club is full of great people who are great to be around, I don’t have one negative thing to say about anyone, it has been an amazing two years.
Lastly I’d like to say what an amazing group of lads it is which I’ve played with. Everyone should feel very confident in achieving the end goal as there’s not a more talented group out there. On a personal level, I’ve made some amazing friends at the club who I will always stay in touch with.
Thank-you again to all the fans for your support over the last two years.”
Everybody at the club shares Marc’s sentiment and wishes Seb all the best in his future endeavours.
