We kicked off at Meadow Lane with the wind and rain at our backs, pressing forward toward the slightly downhill Chesham goal.

An early chance came when Matt Briggs cut in from the left, his shot deflecting out for a corner. Rob Milsom’s looping cross from the set piece was comfortably gathered by Chesham’s goalkeeper, Dillon Addai, who recently joined on loan from Millwall.

The hosts had their turn next, as a corner was whipped in with pace, leading to a scramble in the six-yard box. The chaos was calmly diffused by Harrison Foulkes, who bravely and decisively smothered the ball.

Following a quieter spell, Jack Young picked up the ball at the halfway line and executed a stunning turn, leaving his marker behind. Driving forward, he unleashed a long-range effort, aiming to catch the keeper off-guard. The bouncing shot forced Addai into a diving save, pushing the ball around the post. However, the resulting corner failed to produce a clear chance on goal.

The Generals were next to try their luck from distance. Nathan Minhas collected the ball at the halfway line and immediately took a shot, hoping to catch Harrison off guard. However, his effort lacked precision and bounced harmlessly out of play for a goal kick.

We quickly returned to the attack as Matt Briggs played a well-timed pass to Alfie Rutherford, setting him up with Jimmy Muitt in support against a lone defender. Alfie chose to shoot rather than pass, but the defender managed to block his effort.

The deadlock was finally broken after a lengthy period of stoppages and gamesmanship from the hosts, who appeared determined to see out the half without conceding. Niall McManus picked up the ball on the edge of the area and fired a solid shot, which was deflected and saved. Amid the ensuing scramble, Matt Briggs cut the ball across the box to Jimmy Muitt, who struck decisively to make it 0-1.

Before this narrator could finish recounting our first goal, Jimmy found the net again! This time, in a cleaner sequence, Briggsy once more cut the ball back to Jimmy, who calmly slotted it past Addai and into the back of the net. 0-2

Chesham managed to create a chance as their attacker broke through our defense, but a resolute Harrison Foulkes stood firm, quickly closing down the play and gathering the ball with confidence.

The first half ended with a clever attempt from a free kick near Chesham’s corner flag. The ball curled dangerously toward the top corner, forcing Addai into an awkward attempt to flap it clear. A deflection sent the ball back across the box, where Brennan Camp attempted an acrobatic bicycle kick—a move that’s worked for him before. This time, however, Addai was well-positioned and made a straightforward catch.

Half Time: Chesham United  0 – 2  Dorking Wanderers

We wasted no time after the break, quickly adding a third goal. Alfie Rutherford broke through United’s defense and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper into the bottom-right corner. 0-3

Minutes later, Omar Rowe was shown a red card for a dangerous studs-up challenge on Niall McManus, leaving the hosts down to ten men.

Not long after, Alfie struck again. A perfectly placed cutback from the byline found our number 10, who smashed the ball home with precision. 0-4

Following our fourth goal, manager Marc White made a series of substitutions, bringing on Dan Gallagher, Will Randall, Jordan Norville-Williams, and Rhys Murphy in place of Niall McManus, Jason Prior, Jimmy Muitt, and Matt Briggs.

Following a period of dominant possession, Alfie claimed his hat-trick!A perfectly delivered cross from the left found him in position, and he expertly guided the ball into the back of the net with his head, securing our fifth goal of the game. 0-5.

Following a final spell of controlled possession, the referee blew the full-time whistle, capping off a fantastic afternoon on the road. Don’t miss the action at Meadowbank on Boxing Day, where we’ll aim to carry this winning momentum forward!
