Louie, aged 25, is a composed centre-back who joins from National League side Braintree Town and has experience playing at Woking, Barnet, and Dundalk in Ireland.
More notably, Louie becomes the first full international to play for The Wanderers, having earned 51 caps for the Gibraltar national team, including appearances in recent World Cup Qualifiers against Croatia and the Faroe Islands. In fact his international commitments have seen him come up against the likes of Ivan Perišić, Brennan Johnson, and a star-studded French side including Kylian Mbappé.
On joining us, our new number 15 said:
“I am buzzing to be here and really excited to get going with pre-season next week. I haven’t had much of a break due to my international duties but I am feeling ready for a new challenge and to get on the pitch in red & white.”
Manager Marc White added:
“We are really excited by the signing of Louie — we had to work hard to get him! He was a two-year pro at Blackburn, is relatively local, but most of all we are proud that he is the first ever full international to play for Dorking Wanderers, as vice-captain of the Gibraltar national team.”
“He is a ball-playing, 6ft 4in centre-back and, when looking at the make-up of our team, he really ticked a big box.”
“Our aim this year is to be more versatile by playing either a back three or a back four, and we are certainly bringing in Louie to be front and centre of either formation. We are excited by his presence at the club — he’s a top lad, a seasoned pro, and has only ever played his football in the league above.”
“Overall, we are flattered that Louie chose such a key part of his career to be part of our project and journey — which was a key selling point for him.”
