After Saturday’s success in Somerset, we travel to Essex in search for a third back-to-back win and a second away win of the week, as we face Hornchurch FC.
Despite illness spreading throughout the squad, we kept our winning form vs Bath City with a 1-2 victory thanks to a great team goal finished by Dennon Lewis within 5 minutes; and a penalty from Jason Prior, after Bath’s first goalkeeper of the afternoon was shown a red card. Twenty minutes into the second half, the hosts got one back through Ewan Clark, with minimal action throughout the rest of the half – until the fourth minute of injury time when Bath’s second goalkeeper also got sent off after a foul on Dennon Lewis. On the game, Marc White described the two sending off as a “meal ticket” but also highlighted that our hosts still created a tough game through their man for man defending and that we dug deep for the 3 points.
As we go into Tuesday, we have several players on the mend, such as Annesley who is back to sprinting, Norville-Williams who is not far behind and Moore set to be back in the squad vs Hornchurch. Furthermore, Marc is back in the dug-out after serving his 6-game touchline ban with the gaffer saying he “can’t wait to get amongst it again”.
Hornchurch, who currently sit at the top of the NLS after 6 games compared to our 9th, have won 2 and drawn 1 in their last three games with a habit of scoring goals – with 9 in their last 3. Marc has said that the Urchins have signed well but we travel with “full confidence” and “back ourselves, always” with so much more to come in the following weeks.
With over 200 travelling fans at Bath, we hope for you to continue this strong away support – with tickets still available for the supporters’ coach!
