The Wanderers visited Horsham once again in the FA Cup, in a re-match of last year’s fixture, as both sides looked to get a cup run started. Marc White made 3 changes to the side that started versus Weymouth. Rhys Murphy and Niall McManus replaced the injured Josh Taylor and Alfie Rutherford. Latest signing, Josh Brooking, also made his first start for the club.
From the start it was clear we were going to dominate possession in our usual format, with Horsham looking to capitalise on the counter attack. However, throughout the first half neither side created too many clear-cut chances, with the goalkeepers called into action only a handful of times.
The second half, saw the match open up and become more of an end to end affair with both sides pushing for the opening goal of the game. An early injury to Carter (clash of heads) saw Gallagher enter the fold in midfield with Pybus and McManus. It was the home side that broke the deadlock through Dickson, as he headed home from the back post from a corner.
The Wanderers were defeated by Horsham again in the FA Cup and the home side enter the draw for the next round of the cup on Monday.
