Both sides have met previously in a historically wet fixture, in the FA Trophy, at Meadowbank but both sides were in a contrast of form going into this one.

Latest signing Rob Milsom was placed straight into the starting XI by Marc White as he replaced the injured George Francomb. Theo Alexandrou was also named in the Wanderers squad for the first time.

The match started well from our perspective as Captain Carter gave us an early lead after just 4 minutes of play with an excellent finish. In traditional Wanderers style we dominated the ball and kept to our patterns of play throughout the first half. However, nearing the end of the half, our defence started to drop and allowed Weston more space and time on the ball.  With 3 minutes of the first half left to go, the hosts equalised with a well-deserved goal from Dylan Morgan.

The second half saw us continue in our usual possession dominated form as we were working hard to get back ahead. Our defence working just as hard to keep us level with some excellent tackles and blocks from Milsom and Pybus to note.

The introduction of Bobby-Joe Taylor and Theo Alexandrou brought some fresh legs to the affair as we continued to search for a winner. However, a last ditch challenge from Brooking with 7 minutes left on the clock saw him faced with a red card. The remaining minutes saw us battle with only 10 men and the makeshift formation saw our latest striker Theo slot in at left-back.

The Wanderers come home with 1 point ahead of a week’s break next weekend.

We return to action on Saturday 5th October at Meadowbank vs Hornchurch. Book your tickets here:
