Marc White made just one change from our last league outing versus Truro, with Niall McManus coming back in for Morgan Williams who has been recalled by AFC Wimbledon.

The away side begun on the front foot, pressing Chippenham high and retaining long spells of possession. The first real chance of note fell to Brennan Camp after he met Rob Milsom’s deep free kick. Though a combination of Camp and Dan Gallagher could not convert.

On a tight pitch with little space in central areas, Wanderers frequently found themselves crossing from deep, putting Will Henry in the Chippenham goal under significant pressure.

As the half wore on, Chippenham grew into the affair, posing a threat in the channels as they looked to catch out Dorking’s high line. The games opening goal came from the flanks, namely Will Dawes who found himself with time and space to cross from the right flank on the half hour mark.

Dawes’ cross was dangerous and Wanderers failed to properly clear, with the ball eventually going through to Leone Gravata who volleyed home to give The Bluebirds the lead.

Wanderers controlled large parts of the end of the half but failed to properly test Henry in goal until added time, when Jimmy Muitt’s fierce strike from the edge of the area forced a good stop from the Chippenham stopper.

A dominant start to the second half from Wanderers was rewarded with a leveller just shy of the hour mark. Tony Craig clipped a delightful pass in behind the Chippenham defence, Matt Briggs latched onto Tony’s pass, raced in behind and cooly slotted under Henry.

Introductions of Rhys Murphy and George Francomb resulted in a change of shape, with Marc White reverting to a back three after playing 4-4-2 for most of the first half.

Murphy’s cameo in particular was promising, both he and Alfie Rutherford posed a serious threat to the Town defence for the second 45.

Following a Wanderers onslaught after levelling, Chippenham regained a footing in the game, and also nearly regained the lead through a great free-kick from Luke Spokes, who forced an equally good save from Harrison Foulkes.

As the game looked to be settling down heading into the last twenty minutes, a glancing header from Briggs put us ahead. A fantastic delivery from George Francomb was met by our #8 who looped his header over Henry in front of a jubilant Wanderers faithful.

Resolute defending from Wanderers, including a courageous block from Tony Craig in the latter stages of the game, resulted in our second consecutive away win.
