This Saturday we welcome Hampton and Richmond Borough to Meadowbank, for our second league fixture, and first back at home, this season.
We go into to the game looking to get our first win of the campaign after last week’s 2-2 draw at Chippenham Town, with goals from Camp and Rutherford – with an equaliser at the death securing our first point on the board after a poor start to the game. Similarly, Hampton and Richmond travel with a point under their belt after a goalless encounter with Salisbury, so they come to Meadowbank looking to open their scoring for the year.
The last time we welcomed them here saw 6 goals in front of a packed out Meadowbank on Good Friday – with us coming out on top after Charlie Carter’s hat-trick within 6 minutes set us up for a 4-2 victory. When asked about the upcoming match, Marc White was confident saying that our opponents “will have to work hard to beat our side” and that his plan is to “get 3 points, move onto Tuesday and get another 3 points”, especially with both of these games being at home. Louie Annesley and Niall McManus are also set to return from injury in the coming weeks.
With it being so early in the season, most teams are on a level playing field and everybody’s confidence is still high, making every game an opportunity to get 3 points and set ourselves up for a successful season, with the gaffer having a “good feeling about our football this year” .
We hope to start as we mean to go on with strong home support and have several reasons for you to get involved- with the Fan Zone open from 12pm to show the early kick-off while you enjoy a beer and a burger for £10 and stylish new flags for the Capital Piling Bank.
